MEN-WOMEN & LEADERSHIP

MEN-WOMEN’S ROLE
IN FAMILY & COMMUNITY

“Woman”

One who is virtuous, a woman of valor – who leads her family with integrity, discipline, and more; a woman who nurtures the community; all the virtues she learns and practices are aimed at making the life of her husband better, teaching her children and serving God.

All WEN’s Women Programs

  • Explore the extraordinary and powerful role of the woman as the specie that all lives pass through as stated by author John Mbiti “that not only do women bear life, … [but also,] they nurse, cherish, give warmth, care for life since all human life passes through their bodies”.(http://www.afrikaworld.net/afrel/atr-women.htm) and [they are pillars for their husbands, where they are skilled in following the lead of their husbands; thereby allowing for parental coalition of both genders, advocacy of freedom and equality, and the harmony of family and community].

  • Evaluate societal changes (the old vs the new norms), which includes examining the modern day interpretation of the woman’s role in the family and community and taking stock of the human rights abuses, vulnerabilities, and devastating impacts on victims and their communities

  • CONFERENCES | WORKSHOPS

The first WEN women’s conference was hosted in partnership with the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations. The goal of the conference was to achieve World Ebony Network’s mission and to show how the survival of the black family depends greatly on the wise use of the black woman’s God given abilities.

    WOMEN PIONEERS IN LEADERSHIP

    WOMEN’S HEALTH & WELLNESS

    COUNSELLING | MENTORING

    MARRIAGE

The effectiveness of marital counselling may be debatable; however, there might be some validity to this statement. Our hypothesis in WEN is that the likelihood of a therapist with book knowledge or a few years of the couple’s ethnic practices is unlikely to address all the principles, philosophies, and practices required for an eventual successful marital outcome. It’s like someone from the outside looking in and claiming to be an expert.

    • Pre-marital counselling
    • Marrying into another race
    • Marrying into another ethnic background
    • Meeting the expectations of a mother to be
    • Meeting the expectations of a father to be
    • Courting a man from another race
    • Who pays for the wedding ceremony?
    • Preparing for a traditional wedding
    • Divorced mother with a child marrying a bachelor – Managing expectations

Our duty at WEN is to identify willing resources in the community with the ethnic background, the experience, and particularly the time to share their cultural experiences, knowledge, and guidance to support the couple through their marital journey.
