1. Purpose This agreement outlines the terms and expectations for the Volunteer Chaplain in providing spiritual, emotional, and pastoral care in alignment with the mission and values of the Organization. 2. Role & Responsibilities The Volunteer Chaplain agrees to: 1. Spiritual Support Provide prayer, counseling, and religious rites as requested or appropriate. Offer compassionate, nonjudgmental care to people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures. 2. Crisis Response Respond to urgent requests for pastoral care within agreed availability. Assist in trauma, grief, and crisis situations. 3. Community Engagement Participate in outreach programs and events. Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners. 4. Professional Conduct Maintain confidentiality per organizational and legal requirements. Abide by the Organization’s code of ethics, volunteer handbook, and safety guidelines. 3. Time Commitment Hours: “as scheduled” On-Call Availability: “as agreed upon” Training & Meetings: Attend mandatory chaplaincy orientation, continuing education, and debrief sessions. 4. Training & Supervision The Organization will provide initial training in chaplaincy procedures, cultural sensitivity, and crisis response. The Volunteer Chaplain will serve under the supervision of [Supervisor Title, e.g., Director of Chaplaincy]. 5. Confidentiality All personal, spiritual, and medical information shared with the Volunteer Chaplain is to be kept strictly confidential, except where disclosure is required by law. 6. Boundaries The Volunteer Chaplain will not: Accept payment or gifts for services rendered in their volunteer role. Provide services outside the scope of chaplaincy without prior approval. Engage in proselytizing or coercive religious activity. 7. Non-Employment Status The Volunteer Chaplain understands this is a volunteer position and not an employment relationship. No wages, salaries, or benefits will be provided. The Volunteer Chaplain is not covered by workers’ compensation unless otherwise required by state law. 8. Termination Either party may terminate this agreement with [Number] days written notice. The Organization may immediately terminate this agreement for misconduct, breach of confidentiality, or failure to follow organizational policies. 9. Liability & Indemnity The Volunteer Chaplain releases the Organization from any liability arising from volunteer service, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct of the Organization. The Volunteer Chaplain agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Organization from claims resulting from their actions during service. 10. Agreement & Signatures By signing below, both parties agree to uphold the terms of this Volunteer Chaplain Agreement.
1. Purpose Applies to: All volunteer chaplains, assistant chaplains, and support staff serving under the World Ebony Network Chaplaincy Program. 1. Purpose This Code of Conduct establishes ethical guidelines and behavioral expectations for volunteer chaplains to ensure that all services are delivered with compassion, integrity, cultural sensitivity, and in alignment with the mission and values of World Ebony Network. 2. Core Values Volunteer chaplains shall uphold and model the following values: • a. Compassion – Providing care with genuine empathy and kindness. • b. Integrity – Acting with honesty and moral responsibility at all times. • c. Respect – Honoring the dignity, beliefs, and rights of all people. • d. Collaboration – Working as a team with other chaplains, staff, and community partners. • e. Cultural Awareness – Recognizing and respecting cultural, ethnic, and faith diversity. 3. Professional Conduct a. Respect for All Beliefs: Serve without discrimination based on religion, race, ethnicity, culture, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, or socioeconomic status. b. Non-Proselytizing: Offer spiritual care without coercion; do not attempt to convert individuals. c. Boundaries: Avoid dual relationships or situations that could compromise professional judgment. d. Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality, except when disclosure is required by law or to prevent harm. e. Punctuality & Reliability: Arrive on time for scheduled services and honor all commitments. f. Dress & Presentation: Maintain a clean, modest, and professional appearance. 4. Service Responsibilities a. Provide pastoral counseling, emotional support, and spiritual care within your training and role scope. b. Respond to crisis and trauma situations according to program guidelines. c. Use culturally sensitive approaches in all interactions. d. Refer individuals to appropriate resources when needs exceed your expertise. 5. Communication Standards a. Speak respectfully and clearly with all individuals. b. Avoid gossip, derogatory remarks, or inflammatory speech. c. Use inclusive and non-judgmental language. 6. Conflict of Interest a. Do not accept gifts, money, or favors from care recipients. b. Disclose any personal or professional relationships that could create bias. 7. Self-Care & Accountability a. Monitor your own physical, emotional, and spiritual health. b. Participate in supervision, training, and peer support sessions. c. Seek help when experiencing compassion fatigue, burnout, or secondary trauma. 8. Compliance & Enforcement a. All chaplains must sign this Code of Conduct before serving. b. Violations will be reviewed by the Chaplaincy Program Director and may result in retraining, suspension, or dismissal from the program. c. Legal violations will be reported to appropriate authorities. 9. Acknowledgment I have read and understood the World Ebony Network Volunteer Chaplaincy Program Code of Conduct and agree to abide by its guidelines during my service.
