AGE GRADE

Age grade in some communities is considered the strongest structure of governance. Age grades are groups of persons of the same age. This type of structure varies from community to community and could be identified by various names. According to an 2020 article in Vanguard, Age grades as facilitator of development in Igboland, “In some communities, persons within a specific period of three, four or even five years age bracket form an age grade. In some communities, the female wing of the age grade operates independent of the male wing.
